Position Summary

General Summary/Responsibilities:

A registered polysomnographic technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and out of center sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, scoring of records, patient care and patient education.

  • Gather, analyze and score patient Information and data acquisition.

  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments as necessary.

  • Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting at advanced skill level, with a thorough working knowledge of current mask designs.

  • Follow procedural protocols such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test, Maintenance of Wakefulness Test, parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration to ensure collection of appropriate data.

  • Follow “lights out” procedures to establish and document baseline values such as body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, respiratory heart rates, etc.

  • Insure signals during testing are artifact free and make adjustments as necessary.

  • Follows appropriate workflows for scoring and data retrieval.
