Substitute Food Service Worker

Substitute Food Service Workers Hours: Various
Salary Range: $18.00/hour

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing hot and cold food items (e.g., chopping vegetables, baking, assembling sandwiches, preparing salads) following standardized recipes and production records.
- Set up serving lines with appropriate utensils, plates, and food items. Serve meals to students and staff using precise portion control guidelines to meet National School Lunch and Breakfast Program requirements.
- Operate the cafeteria cash register or meal scanning system, accurately processing student accounts, cash payments, and identifying a "reimbursable meal"
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and commercial kitchen equipment.
- Adhere strictly to HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) principles, including monitoring and logging food temperatures, proper food storage (labeling/dating), and avoiding cross-contamination.
- Assist in receiving, checking, and stocking food deliveries and supply shipments in refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
- Maintain sharp awareness of student food allergies and medical dietary restrictions, ensuring designated alternatives are handled carefully.
Qualifications:
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Previous institutional food service experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to interact and cooperate effectively with others.
- Satisfactory record of attendance required
