Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality instruction for children in a 4-year-old SWVPP/ Head Start classroom
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Work collaboratively with staff, families, school district personnel, and support services
- Maintain classroom routines and follow program and school calendar schedules
- Promote school readiness in alignment with Head Start Program Performance Standards, SWVPP requirements, and applicable Iowa early childhood standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Early Childhood Education or another appropriate major identified by the Iowa Department of Education.
- Current and valid Iowa practitioner’s license with an endorsement that includes prekindergarten. Appropriate endorsements include:
- Demonstrated competency in curriculum implementation, child assessment, individualized instruction, inclusive practices, and support for children with disabilities and dual language learners.
- Commitment to supporting the goals and mission of the Head Start program and meeting all SWVPP requirements.
UDMO is seeking a full-time Classroom Teacher for the four-year-old Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program (SWVPP) and Head Start classroom at Gingerbread Head Start in Storm Lake, Iowa. This position serves in an inclusive early childhood setting and offers an excellent benefits package.
