The Planning and Zoning Technician is responsible for providing administrative and technical support for the department and works closely with the public to provide customer service on planning and zoning permits and issues. The Planning and Zoning Technician assists applicants in completing forms, ensuring all required documents are included, and promptly process applications and payments.
The Planning and Zoning Technician provides technical and administrative support in the implementation of zoning-related programs and ordinances. Responsibilities include assisting applicants with submitting various permits (e.g., zoning, floodplain, fence, stormwater, Zoning Hearing Board), ensuring application completeness, processing payments, and issuing permits or denials under the Planning & Zoning Manager's direction.
The position supports the Zoning Officer by coordinating inspections, tracking violations, and preparing citations for court. It also involves document digitization, maintaining both digital and physical filing systems, handling office communications, and performing general office duties. Additional responsibilities include tracking systems management and ordering office supplies and field equipment.
