The Upper Darby School District is seeking applicants certified as Speech and Language Pathologists. 

 

Qualifications: 

  1. PA Instructional Certificate in Speech and Language Pathologist (PK-12)

Out-of-state educators and anyone seeking an emergency certificate should review the guidelines set by the PA Department of Education. Pennsylvania Certification information is available at:

  1. BA required in appropriate major study, masters preferred but not required.
  2. Knowledge of content in certification area
  3. Classroom/group management skills
  4. Ability to use instructional materials and equipment
  5. Knowledge of child growth and development
  6. Instructional skills
  7. Planning Skills
  8. Human Relations Skills
  9. Strong communication and motivational skills.
  10. Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff and parents.

  

Major Function:

 

1. To provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to speech and/or language impaired students

2. To serve as a resource to and collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities.

3. To help reduce or eliminate speech/language impairments that interfere with the individual student's ability to benefit from the district's educational program

4. To provide diagnostic evaluation to children referred and to interpret assessment results to staff and parents
