If so, we’ve got the perfect opportunity for you! Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation (UCEMC) is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our corporate team in Carthage.
Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer supports the EVP of Engineering with system planning, engineering design, technical analysis, and field support. Responsibilities include maintaining and developing the cooperative’s GIS and mapping systems, assisting with SCADA and outage management technologies, performing engineering studies and load analysis, completing work order inspections, supporting construction work plans, and assisting the Staking Department with line extensions or design needs.
This role also supports power restoration efforts, gathers and analyzes engineering data, prepares reports, and helps maintain system models and records. Position includes both office and field work and requires participation in safety meetings and compliance with all UCEMC safety practices.
Job Requirements:
• Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university required. A major in Power Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum two years of electrical engineering experience preferred, with an electric cooperative strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, utility operations, safety regulations, and engineering principles
• Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, and standard office software; ESRI experience preferred
• Ability to learn and apply RUS specifications, NESC rules, and material standards
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather, on uneven terrain, and around equipment, insects, and animals
• Ability to climb, bend, stoop, lift equipment, walk long distances, and work in confined spaces when needed
• Ability to work extended or irregular hours during outages or emergencies
• Valid Tennessee Class D driver’s license (or ability to obtain within six months of hire)
• Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and maintain accurate engineering data
• Ability to communicate effectively with cooperative personnel, members, contractors, and agencies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for engineering data and system modeling
