What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payment Optimization Support Specialist position at UPMC?
Purpose:
This position will be responsible for the retrieval and distribution of medical record information needed for patient care, insurance, and legal purposes. This role is responsible for efficient and proper handling of medical records and member documentation.
This will be a remote position working standard daylight hours. Preference will be given to applicants in Western Pennsylvania.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in training programs as available/requested.
- Assist other departments during periods of backlogs.
- Openly participate in team meetings, provide ideas and suggestions to ensure client satisfaction, and promote teamwork.
- Maintain employee/insured confidentiality.
- Work overtime as required per business need.
- Identify areas of concern that may compromise client satisfaction.
- Extract medical records from various systems.
- Performs quality checks on records before sending.
- Merge Extracted files to be submitted to HMS.
- Effectively prioritize and complete all assigned tasks.
- Release patient health information appropriately to requestors according to State and Federal regulations as well as UPMC and Insurance Services Division (ISD).
