Nurse Manager, Labor and Delivery
Greater Seattle Region | Full-Time | Day Shift
The Opportunity
A well-established acute care medical center in the Seattle Metro area is seeking a Nurse Manager for its Labor and Delivery department. This is a substantive leadership role on a high-volume, high-acuity OB program — approximately 550–600 births per month — supported by a Level 4 NICU, a Maternal-Fetal Medicine team, Midwifery, OB, Family Medicine, and 24/7 Anesthesia, Laborist, and Neonatology services.
Compensation ranges up to $178,256 annually, with a hiring bonus and relocation assistance available for eligible external candidates.
This role reports to a Senior L&D Manager and operates within a collaborative leadership triad alongside a Clinical Supervisor — a structure that distributes accountability and creates genuine peer support at the management level.
The Role
As Nurse Manager, you hold 24/7 accountability for clinical and operational outcomes across the L&D units, which include:
- 30 labor beds and a 9-bed OB ED
- 4 OB operating rooms
- Two distinct units (main L&D and a scheduled C-section/overflow unit)
- Charge RN and Laborist coverage on both units
You will lead quality improvement initiatives with an emphasis on NTSV metrics, drive DEI and culture work including established Doula and Cultural Navigator programs and an Addiction Recovery program for pregnant and postpartum patients, and collaborate with the CNS and Perinatal Educator on evidence-based practice. Hiring — including staff RNs, travelers, and residency/fellowship candidates — is a near-term priority.
What You Bring
**Required:**
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing (ADN accepted with commitment to obtain BSN within two years)
- Washington RN License upon hire — Washington is a Nursing Compact state, so many out-of-state licenses transfer without a new application
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) upon hire
- 3 years of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience
**Preferred:**
- Master's degree in Nursing or a related field
- 1 year of first-line management experience
What We Offer
- Annual base compensation: Up to $178,256
- Hiring bonus for eligible external candidates
- Relocation assistance for eligible external candidates
- Full benefits beginning on your first day of employment
- A collaborative leadership model — you are not operating in isolation
About the Organization
This is a large acute care hospital serving a highly diverse urban patient population. The L&D program is one of the highest-volume in the region, embedded within a broader Women and Children's service line. The facility has a demonstrable commitment to inclusive care delivery — the Doula and Cultural Navigator programs and Addiction Recovery program for perinatal patients are operational, not aspirational. The leadership team is actively engaged in DEI culture work at the unit level.
Why the Pacific Northwest
The Seattle Metro area sits at the intersection of mountain, water, and city in a way that few urban regions manage. The Cascades are within reach for skiing, hiking, and climbing. Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands draw sailors, kayakers, and anyone who finds proximity to open water restorative. The food and coffee culture punches well above its weight class. For nurses coming from compact-license states, the transition is typically straightforward — Washington's compact status means your license travels with you.
