Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy-Duty Equipment Upfitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle and equipment modification, fabrication, and repair of heavy machinery. This role involves installing a wide range of truck bodies, equipment, and specialty systems—including platforms, service bodies, cranes, liftgates, snowplows, salt spreaders, warning lights, and hydraulic components.
This is a first shift, Monday-Friday position, with working hours of 7:00AM-3:30PM.
Duties
- Install truck bodies including service bodies, flatbeds, dump bodies, van bodies, and landscape beds.
- Mount and set up snowplows, salt spreaders, liftgates, hoists, cranes, and other specialized work-truck equipment.
- Install and route hydraulic systems including pumps, lines, controls, valves, and reservoirs.
- Install electrical systems including lighting, controllers, warning lights, and accessory wiring.
- Ensure proper mounting, alignment, torque specifications, and functional testing of all installed components.
- Perform basic fabrication, drilling, grinding, cutting, and welding as needed to support installations.
- Modify truck chassis and body components to meet equipment specifications and customer requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals.
Experience
- 2 years of experience in truck upfitting, fabrication, heavy equipment assembly, diesel/automotive repair, or a related mechanical field.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, electrical systems, hydraulics, and transmissions
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to install and configure complex systems and components.
- Solid understanding of 12-volt electrical systems, hydraulic operations, and mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience using fabrication tools, hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely.
- Familiarity with schematics for industrial machinery, OEM parts, and service manuals
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or vocational coursework preferred.
- Welding experience (MIG preferred) is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
