Job Description

Finance Data & Reporting Architect

Job Purpose

The Finance Architect is responsible for end‑to‑end ownership of Month‑End (EOM) Reporting and Finance Connector processes, serving as the single technical authority bridging Finance & Accounting and IT.

This role ensures accuracy, completeness, traceability, and timeliness of financial data flowing from source systems through Informatica connectors, databases, and Oracle Fusion, and ultimately into EOM reports used by Finance leadership.

The position owns the architecture, stability, documentation, and continuous improvement of EOM reporting and journal creation processes, enabling Finance to achieve faster closes, reduced manual reconciliations, and higher trust in data.

Key Responsibilities

End‑to‑End Process Ownership

  • Own the entire EOM Reporting and Connector lifecycle, from source systems through staging, transformations, Oracle Fusion journals, and downstream reports.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for Finance and Accounting for EOM reporting, reconciliations, and variances.
  • Ensure EOM processes support close timelines with predictable and repeatable execution.

Architecture & Data Flow Management

  • Design, maintain, and govern the end‑to‑end architecture for Finance reporting and connectors.
  • Ensure clear data lineage across:
    • Source systems
    • Database schemas
    • Stored procedures and SQL logic
    • Informatica workflows
    • Oracle Fusion GL journals and balances
  • Define and enforce architectural standards for scalability, auditability, and maintainability.
Reporting & SQL Ownership

  • Own and optimize complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures supporting EOM and ad‑hoc Finance reporting.
  • Ensure reports are reconcilable to Oracle Fusion, with drill‑through capability to transaction‑level data.
  • Review and improve existing reporting logic to reduce duplication, timing issues, and manual interventions.

Connector & Informatica Workflow Ownership

  • Own Informatica workflows that create and feed journals into Oracle Fusion.
  • Ensure connector jobs include:
    • Validation checks
    • Error handling
    • Exception logging
    • Re‑processing capability
  • Partner with Finance to define journal creation rules, cut‑off logic, and reconciliation expectations.
  • Data Quality, Controls & Compliance
  • Implement proactive data quality controls to prevent unbalanced, missing, or duplicate records.
  • Support SOX and audit requirements through strong documentation, traceability, and controlled change management.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis (RCA) for EOM issues, variances, and connector failures.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Management
  • Create and maintain authoritative documentation covering:
    • EOM reporting dependencies and timing
    • Connector logic and workflows
    • Field‑level mappings and transformations
    • Journal creation rules and reconciliation paths
  • Reduce reliance on tribal knowledge by establishing a single source of truth.
  • Stakeholder Partnership
  • Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and IT leadership to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Translate Finance requirements into scalable technical designs.
  • Provide clear communication during EOM cycles, including issue status, risks, and remediation plans.
Job Requirements

Required Experience & Skills

  • 8 years of experience designing and supporting Finance reporting platforms in complex enterprise environments.
  • Advanced expertise in:
    • SQL (complex queries, performance tuning)
    • Stored Procedures
    • Relational database design
  • Hands‑on experience with Informatica (PowerCenter or IICS) workflows and ETL processes.
  • Experience working with Oracle Fusion Financials, particularly GL integration and reporting alignment.
  • Proven ability to support month‑end close processes with high accuracy and tight timelines.
  • Strong understanding of data reconciliation, financial controls, and audit requirements.
  • Ability to lead RCA efforts and drive long‑term stability improvements.
Soft Skills

  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with Finance leadership.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical topics for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Certifications

  • Informatica Certification (PowerCenter or IICS)
  • Data Architecture or Data Engineering certifications
  • Finance systems or SOX compliance training
  • Oracle Fusion Financials or Oracle ERP certifications
