Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic / Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing company equipment, vehicles, and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations. This role supports production by minimizing downtime, maintaining preventative maintenance schedules, and contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
- Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on production equipment, vehicles, and facility systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing issues.
- Safely operate equipment such as forklifts, telehandlers, skid steers, and excavators.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas in alignment with 6S standards.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, production teams, and leadership regarding maintenance needs and timelines.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and inspection documentation.
- Support preventative maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment & Tool Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair problems with small handheld equipment, including:
- Spray guns
- Air tools
- Saws
- Sanders
- Grinders
- Perform preventative maintenance to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
Automotive & Mobile Equipment
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs on company vehicles and mobile equipment, including:
- Fluid checks and changes
- Brake inspections
- Belt replacements
- General mechanical troubleshooting
Facility Maintenance
- Electrical: Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical systems (lighting, switches, outlets, low-voltage systems).
- HVAC: Perform filter changes, inspections, and minor system repairs.
- Plumbing: Repair fixtures, address leaks, clear clogs, and maintain valves and piping systems.
Operational Support
- Identify potential issues before failure and proactively recommend solutions.
- Escalate complex repairs to licensed contractors when required.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies.
- Support production teams to minimize downtime and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and 6S projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct inspections to identify issues and carry out necessary repairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff members.
- Document maintenance activities and report any significant findings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred.
- 2 years of maintenance, mechanical, or equipment repair experience in a manufacturing or construction environment preferred.
- Experience operating equipment such as forklifts, telehandlers, skid steers, and excavators.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot multiple systems.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing small handheld equipment and power tools.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to read manuals, schematics, and technical instructions.

Physical Requirements

Requirements
- Proven experience in general maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing and construction environment with exposure to machinery, tools, and production processes. Proper use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols is always required.
