Job Title: Nurse Practitioner (Advanced Practice Provider – General Surgery)
Schedule: Full-Time, 4×10 Day Shifts
Job Description:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will serve as an Advanced Practice Provider supporting the General Surgery team, working closely with the attending surgeon and interdisciplinary staff. This role focuses on providing comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative patient care. While direct involvement in surgical procedures is rare, the NP will play a critical role in patient evaluation, preparation, follow-up, and continuity of care throughout the surgical process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, patient histories, and physical examinations.
- Manage post-operative patient care, including follow-up evaluations, wound assessments, medication management, and patient education.
- Collaborate with the general surgeon to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Coordinate patient flow by preparing patients for surgery and facilitating smooth transitions of care.
- Monitor patient progress, identify complications early, and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Provide consultation and support to nursing staff and other care team members regarding surgical patients.
- Document all patient interactions accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to care pathways that optimize surgical outcomes.
- Serve as a patient advocate, offering education regarding procedures, expectations, recovery, and follow-up care.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) with active state licensure.
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Provider in an applicable specialty.
- Experience in surgical, acute care, or hospital-based settings preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.
Pay: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year

Experience:
- Nurse Practitioner: 1 year (Preferred)
- General Surgery: 1 year (Preferred)
- Hospital/Inpatient: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Provider (Preferred)
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) from MI State (Required)
