As a K-8 Learning Specialist, you will have the unique opportunity to design and implement engaging, hands-on lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. You will collaborate with a team of dedicated educators to develop creative and interactive curriculum that sparks curiosity and nurtures a love of learning in students from kindergarten to 8th grade.
Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including providing personalized support to students with varying learning styles, facilitating small group instruction, and integrating technology to enhance the educational experience. You will serve as a mentor, motivator, and role model, guiding students as they explore new concepts, develop critical thinking skills, and build confidence in their academic abilities.
The Learning Specialist (resource room teacher) is primarily responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This instruction may take place in an individualized or group setting within the special education and/or general education setting. The Learning Specialist, along with other members of the students’ primary team, contributes to the organizing, writing, reviewing and monitoring of programming and services as outlined in the students’ IEPs.

Education:
- Michigan Department of Education Certification with Learning Specialist endorsement
Compensation:
- Stipend: $8,000 (includes 1 hour of daily planning and preparation)
- Signing Bonus: $1,000
- Attendance Bonus: $1,000
- Impact Bonus: $4,000 Potential Total Compensation
- Potential Total Compensation: $14,000 (paid in two installments July 15 and July 31)
Schedule:
- Dates: June 22 - July 22 (July 2-3 are days off)
- Work Hours: Monday -Friday
- *Employees must be in attendance for every day of the summer program.
