Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.

Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Job Summary

The Management Department in the Richards College of Business at the University of West Georgia (UWG) invites applications for the position of Director of Construction Management. This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership in the development and growth of UWG's newly approved Construction Management concentration and to help shape a program designed to prepare students for successful careers in the construction industry.

The successful candidate will provide strategic and academic leadership for the concentration, contribute to curriculum development, create hands-on learning opportunities, build strong partnerships with the construction industry, and teach undergraduate courses ranging from introductory through capstone levels. The position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction management professional or academic to play a significant role in building a growing university program.

This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of a newly established Construction Management concentration. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence curriculum, develop innovative hands-on learning experiences, establish meaningful industry partnerships, and prepare students for careers in a growing and dynamic profession.

Experienced construction management professionals who are interested in bringing their industry expertise into higher education are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

1.

Provide leadership for the development, implementation, assessment, and continued growth of the Construction Management concentration.

2.

Develop a hands-on construction management learning laboratory that enhances students' applied learning experiences.

3.

Assist with student recruitment, advising, mentoring, and career development.

4.

Build and maintain strong relationships with construction firms, professional organizations, and other industry partners.

5.

Develop and coordinate internship and experiential learning opportunities for students.

6.

Teach undergraduate construction management courses from introductory through capstone levels in face-to-face and online formats.

7.

Engage in scholarly and professional activities consistent with the expectations of the faculty appointment.

8.

Participate in service activities at the department, college, university, professional, and industry levels.

Required Qualifications

Required Education

Master's Degree in construction management, construction science, civil engineering, or closely related field.

Required Experience

Significant professional experience in construction management or closely related field. College-level teaching experience. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with industry professionals and organizations.

Doctorate / Phd

Preferred Experience

A Ph.D. or other terminal degree in construction management, construction science, civil engineering, or a closely related field. Experience developing or managing a hands-on construction management laboratory or similar applied-learning environment. Academic program leadership, curriculum development, or administrative experience in construction management or a related field. A strong record of engagement with the construction industry, including partnerships, internships, workforce development, or professional organizations.

Proposed Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
