This position oversees the custodial and arena operations of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. RESPONSIBILITIES –
The Supervisor, Arena & Custodial Operations (payroll title: Custodian Supervisor 2), will report directly to the Director of Facility Operations. This position oversees the custodial and arena operations of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Additionally, this role will act as an event manager for assigned events, assist in other facilities as needed, and assist with project management and delivery.
Custodial Operations:
• Manage daily and event custodial operations and staffing for all ICA facilities.
• Coordinate daily cleaning of athletic spaces, plan larger custodial projects (carpet extraction, re-finishing floors, deep cleaning of locker rooms & offices, etc.), evaluate custodial runs, ensure custodial standards are met, & evaluate quality of work.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures for daily and event custodial operations in all ICA facilities.
• Provide direct supervision and support to custodial staff. Schedule personnel for proper coverage of facilities and ensure a fair distribution of workload.
• Work all football games, Commencement, and stadium event cleanups with direct oversight of all custodial operations & staffing.
• Coordinate custodial operations & support for all events hosted in ICA facilities, including event preparation, event custodial coverage, and post-event cleanups.
• Investigate, document, and report all hazards and incidents to proper management.
• Perform duties of a Custodial Supervisor I or related duties as required.
Arena & Event Operations:
Arena & Event Operations:
• Oversee all aspects of the daily operations of Alaska Airlines Arena and the Basketball Operations Center. Ensure a working understanding of building operations and that facilities are kept in a state of donor and recruit readiness.
• Implement a facility maintenance plan, which includes coordination with UW Facilities Services and various service providers for repairs and maintenance. Respond to emergencies and initiate needed repairs to facilities.
• Manage deliveries to arena loading dock.
• Oversee setup for all events in assigned facilities. Receive and act upon requests from staff members for items such as tables, chairs, stanchions, etc. Coordinate and be on-site for all court transitions, including ability to set up for basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, graduation ceremonies, and other arena events. This includes moving bleachers, setting up and removing basketball hoops, volleyball nets, digital scoring table, and other equipment as necessary.
• Act as on-site Event Manager for all men’s basketball games. This includes overseeing the Customer Service Team, First Aid, Crowd Control Management staff, and any other public facing staff. Work other arena events (volleyball, gymnastics, women’s basketball, etc.) as assigned.
• Oversee scheduling of courts and other spaces in Alaska Airlines Arena and the Basketball Operations Center.
• Manage and assist with projects as assigned.
General Facility Operations:
General Facility Operations:
• Supervise two (2) Custodial Supervisor 1 positions.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment. Order supplies and equipment, as needed, including cleaning solutions, paper towels, soap, toilet paper, vacuums, mops, and brooms.
• Manage custodial OT calendar. Communicate scheduled shifts to custodial employees.
• Review and approve Workday time and leave entries.
• Submit and follow-up on work requests via UW Facilities Services program and internal ICA program.
• Manage partnership with external custodial and labor companies to assist with supporting custodial and general facility operations for events in all facilities.
• Maintain compliance with collective bargaining agreements for staffing practices, policies, and procedures.
• Complete all necessary safety training courses, including but not limited to Forklift and Lift-Truck Operator Safety and Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Operator Safety.
• Assist with coordinating and implementing safety training for staff.
This position is designated as one that performs an “essential function”. This position’s incumbent must continue to report to work in the event that the University suspends operations because of severe weather, natural disaster, or other emergency conditions.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS –
Three years of experience in custodial or general maintenance work, including two years of experience as a Custodian Supervisor 1 OR equivalent education/experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
