The Department of Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Financial Analyst. The Department of Radiology resides within the UW School of Medicine; the financial operations are inherently complex due to the multiple sites of practice and cross collaboration among entities external to the University of Washington with whom we work. The purpose of this position is to manage all non-grant accounts within Radiology totaling approximately $30M and assist with general finance operations with the department including faculty and staff payroll processing. This position also contributes to process improvement and the development of standard operating procedures within the department. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Finance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Analysis & Management 60%:
Independently manage non-grant accounts that include, but are not limited to, department self-sustaining budgets, state funding, royalty budgets, and department start-up and commitment packages. Manage department monthly and quarterly financial reports as well as reconciliation for assigned accounts and budgets.
Directly responsible for managing assigned tasks within the department’s payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university and state policies and regulations.
Provide financial analysis for department wide process improvement projects.
Analyze and report budget changes and trend analysis.
Regularly collaborate with the department’s Business Intelligence and Analytics Team to improve and produce reporting from department dashboards.
Contribute to the planning process, allocation, and the monitoring of budget funding.
Develop and manage department financial record keeping systems and databases.
Review, reconcile, update, and manage financial systems and budgets for accuracy and timeliness.
Develop and prepare complex and detailed fiscal reports for management.
Conduct financial and feasibility analyses for proposed projects and initiatives.
Contribute to the design, development, implementation and modification of budgetary policies.
Forecast fiscal needs/commitments, develop long-term planning documents, and contribute to the planning of new programs.
Ensure that adequate audit trails and internal controls are implemented and compliant with policies and procedures set at the Federal, State and UW levels.
Participate in work groups, offering suggestions to streamline and simplify systems and procedures, improve processes and operations.
Participate in preparing quarterly, semi-annual, annual and ad hoc department financial reports.
Other Financial Tasks and Support to Assistant Director of Finance 20%:
Create and present financial reports on department’s budget status.
Prepare reports and memos related to the clinical incentive distribution plans.
Prepare and transmit confidential and sensitive communication on behalf of the Assistant Director of Finance, VCFA and Chair.
Prepare presentation materials for the Assistant Director of Finance and VCFA for use at financial and strategic planning meetings.

Collaborate with various teams within the department to identify, create, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and any associated process flows.
Assist in the development and documentation of policies and standard work; facilitate training sessions when necessary.
Stay up to date with fiscal processes; updates SOP and process map changes as appropriate.
Participate in process improvement activities as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or similar field.
3 years of relevant experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree (MBA, MHA, MPA).
Experience with process improvement.
Experience with UW systems.
Ability to work independently with exceptional organizational, planning, time-management skills and initiative.
Ability to function effectively as part of a team.

Work Environment:
Schedule is normally 8a to 5p, M-F but is not always fixed and workload does vary. The incumbents first responsibility is to complete tasks rather than keep to a fixed schedule.

Some travel between sites will be necessary by UW Health Services or other shuttles.
