Family Resource Consultant Posting Summary For more than 50 years, the Vermont Interdisciplinary Team (I-Team) has championed school inclusion for Vermont students with complex disabilities. We are seeking a Family Resource Consultant to provide training and support to families of students with complex learning styles and complex support needs as they navigate Vermont school systems and supports. The Vermont I-Team supports local school district educational teams by providing intensive special education technical assistance, professional development, systems-change support, and family-centered services for students with low incidence disabilities, including DeafBlindness, complex medical needs, multiple disabilities, autism, and intellectual disabilities. As a Family Resource Consultant on the team, you will work with a dedicated team of 20 interdisciplinary specialists working across Vermont to improve educational access and outcomes. This role includes cultivating strong relationships with families, providing families with assistance and support in navigating the special education process and person-centered planning, helping families access local, statewide, and national resources for family support, and helping families and school teams understand the best practices of inclusive education. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelor's degree in education or related field and two to four years of related experience to include working with students with disabilities required. Solid knowledge of disabilities, their etiology,course, and the related impacts to an individual required. Demonstrated experience supporting or navigating systems related to disability services and family advocacy. Effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills required. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to inclusive education in the state of Vermont required. Desirable Qualifications Lived expertise of navigating systems and resources as a parent (or caregiver) of a child with disabilities. Anticipated Pay Range $50,000 to $56,666.67 at 10month term Other Information This position will require travel around the state of Vermont to schools and families in your assigned region. The I-Team regions cover the Nortwest, Northeast, Central, and Southern Vermont. Both FTE and region assignment will be determined based on the needs of the strongest candidate for this position.
