University of Utah Health Plans is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Associate to support the growth of our Commercial Group Health Insurance business.
This role will focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with insurance brokers throughout Utah to drive new group sales and renewals.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the health insurance market, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering value to clients and partners.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Develop and maintain relationships with licensed insurance brokers and agencies.
Promote and sell University of Utah Health Plans’ commercial group health insurance products.
Conduct broker training sessions, webinars, and in-person meetings to educate on plan offerings and updates.
Collaborate with internal teams (underwriting, marketing, customer service) to support broker needs and ensure a seamless sales process.
Track and report on broker activity, sales pipeline, and market trends.
Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to expand broker relationships and market presence.
Assist in the development of sales strategies and marketing materials tailored to the broker channel.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial group health insurance products, broker distribution channels, and the Utah healthcare market.
Sales Acumen: Proven ability to build relationships, identify client needs, and close sales in a consultative environment.
Relationship Management: Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze market trends, broker performance, and sales data to inform strategy and decision-making.
Tech Proficiency: Comfortable using CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual meeting platforms.
Team Collaboration: Works well independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive and goal-oriented work environment.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2 years of experience in health insurance sales, preferably in group/commercial markets.
Active Utah Health Insurance Producer License.
Strong knowledge of the Utah health insurance market and broker landscape.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to travel throughout Utah as needed.
Qualifications (Preferred)
Preferred
Experience working with or for a health plan or broker agency.
Familiarity with University of Utah Health Plans products and services.
