Job Title: Business Assistant III

Reports To: Operations Manager
Location: Toledo Hospital
Organizational Structure: This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and the Department Chairman. The Business Assistant III is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of UTD.
POSITION SUMMARY
Directly influence patient satisfaction by delivering patient healthcare services both financially and clinically.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Overall general clerical support of the dental office; support of projects as needed for completion, filing, data-entry, organization, auditing, etc.
- Answer and route phone calls.
- Create and update patient records in Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and validity of information.
- Assist front desk as needed.
- Oversee encounter forms are filled out correctly by faculty and residents.
- Oversee and when needed assist in the billing of all resident and faculty appointments from the daily encounter forms.
- Bill out operating room cases.
- Collect money and discuss financial arrangements with patients.
- Oversee and when needed assist in the prior authorization processes.
- Submit claims electronically and by mail to the appropriate dental and medical insurance companies.
- Enter all money into Dentrix and complete the day end financial reports and banking.
- Correct insurance issues; contact insurance companies and/or check insurance portals regarding claims.
- Monthly financial aging of patient accounts.
- Oversee all accounts are marked with the correct bill type.
- Oversee the monthly mailing of patient account statements.
- Support leadership in assigned priority projects and makes proactive suggestions regarding opportunities for optimization.
- Support all operation aspects of the clinic.
- Support Operations Manager in day-to-day supervision of office staff.
- Perform other related duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Remember; these are minimal qualifications that disqualify candidates if they do not have)
- Education: HS Diploma or Equivalent
- Skills:
- Demonstrates clinical competency in caring for patients as identified in unit's Scope of Care.
- Demonstrates competency in the care of the patient in the following stages of the lifecycle: infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
- Effectively responds to customer service needs.
- Seeks out ways to assist patients and co-workers.
- Actively participates in performance improvement activities as related to job duties.
- Years of Experience:
- 1 years clerical and/or customer service experience
- Experience in a medical or dental office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelors Degree in related field
- Years of Experience: 2 years experience in a dental office
