Position Summary
The Student Assistant for the Artful Worship Program provides vital research and program support for a multi-year, arts-based faith formation initiative centered on the Catholic imagination. The Graduate Assistant reports to the Program Coordinator.
Essential Functions
- Assists with operational activities for the Artful Worship Program efforts and initiatives, including but not limited to data collection and program development.
- Provides administrative support to faculty and staff who support the artful worship program — coordinating events, activities, and services.
- Supports university and department efforts to enhance the Catholic Imagination at UIW and in the San Antonio Community.
- Assists faculty and other university partners with promoting the project’s mission, initiatives, and activities.
- Conducts research for the Artful Worship Program’s reporting efforts, progress, and measures impact.
- Assist in bringing the project’s mission to life through organized, creative, and collaborative support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook (Canva is a plus)
- Ability to effectively manage time.
- Good organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Catholic liturgy or education and/or interest in arts-based ministry is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Current UIW in undergrad, graduate or doctoral program.
Required Work Experience
None.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in working with a non-profit or community-based organization will be an asset.
- Prior experience in conducting University research and an understanding of IRB standards.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
None.
Work Hours
- May work up to 10-15 hours per week within standard office hours of Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional extended hours to meet departmental goals to include some evenings and/or weekends.
- Work schedule to be determined, based on academic student schedule.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift to 25 lbs of office and food pantry supplies, to include reaching overhead, bending, squatting to retrieve said materials.
- Ability to push/pull fully loaded pantry/equipment carts.
- Ability to actively engage in events and recreational activities for extended periods of time, which may be held indoors and/or outdoors.
- Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage faculty, staff, community members/partners and potential/current students, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
