Purpose of Position
This position provides critical support to the Texas Medical & Dental Schools Application Service (TMDSAS) by contributing to the review of over 10000 health professions school applications for completeness and accuracy, ensuring coursework is coded correctly, reviewing course descriptions for coding within the application, requesting residency documentation, and contributing to editorial reviews of TMDSAS publications.
Essential Functions
Process and transmit assigned applications to medical, dental, vet, and podiatry schools and meet established daily processing quotas to ensure timely and consistent application review in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs)
Evaluate coursework against education requirements
Consult with the Texas residency committee to verify applicants' Texas residency status
Provide guidance to applicants throughout the application cycle
Monitor and respond to applicant inquiries through the TMDSAS portal on a daily basis
Participate in application workshops and other outreach/educational efforts
Contribute to the development of application resource
Engage actively in process review and improvement measures
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrate ability to execute and complete processes from initiation through completion.
Ability to perform effectively in a quota driven, high pressure environment.
Detail minded and resourceful, with a strong commitment to adhering to established procedures.
Skilled in recognizing application errors and assisting in developing appropriate solutions.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in all application review tasks.
Skilled in evaluating coursework, academic records, or similar documentation.
Skilled in handling confidential records.
Knowledgeable in working with MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and/or similar programs.
Commitment to collaboration and team success.
Required Qualifications
High school graduate or GED equivalent and one year of experience in office administration or related area.
An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree.
Understanding of the admissions process for professional school in Texas.
Working Conditions
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
Uses standard office equipment
