Job Summary
The Senior Prospect Researcher provides expertise in conducting research to support development activities. This role conducts in-depth research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using public and proprietary sources, integrating relevant data into internal systems for analysis and retrieval.
Core Responsibilities
- Conducts and facilitates research on individuals, private businesses, public corporations, and philanthropic foundations, and integrates data from various public and published sources into a computer system for retrieval and analysis.
- Performs prospect identification and research; prepares and delivers research findings to support development activities and initiatives.
- Collaborates with development staff to inform prospect strategy, including identification, soliciatation planning, and portfolio development.
- Advises development staff on new prospect opportunities; consults on the feasibility of research requests and special projects.
- Creates profile reports tailored to specific goals and/or objectives; maintains, tracks, and stores profile data.
- Maintains and updates policies and procedures for the prospect research programs; proposes changes and modifications.
- Reviews local and national news, business publications, economic trends, and business development, staying updated on prospect information; provides relevant details to development staff.
- Manages special projects as assigned.
- Provides training and guidance to advancement colleagues on constituent database (CRM) tools, as needed.
- Reviews research documents prepared by other Prospect Research Staff as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

High School Diploma.
- At the department's discretion, a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four (4) years of experience.
- Seven (7) years of related work experience.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Working Conditions
- Office Environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the department's needs.
Physical Demands
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary; if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
