Position Details

The Department of Languages and Linguistics within the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Tampa is seeking candidates for an Assistant Teaching Professor of French (non-tenure track) position beginning in Fall 2026. The position is renewable and eligible for promotion.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. UTampa reflects this vibrancy; with 30 consecutive years of enrollment growth UTampa boasts 260 student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and more than 100 countries, and "Top Tier" ranking in U.S. News and World Report.

Applicants holding a Ph.D. in French by the time of application will be preferred, though experienced and dedicated teachers who hold an M.A. or have yet to complete their Ph.D. will be considered.

Ideal candidates must have native-like proficiency in French and be outstanding teachers who are willing to commit to elementary and intermediate language instruction, coordinate beginning and intermediate French language courses, as well as promote the Department's various language programs.

Candidates should have knowledge and experience in the use of the latest technology for teaching, assessment, curriculum design, and electronic portfolios.

Teaching duties are eight courses (32 credits) per academic year. The University of Tampa is committed to excellence in teaching, and expects its faculty to engage students in learning, scholarly activity and service.
