Responsibilities
- Assists registered nurse and/or physidans with exams and procedures
- Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure
- Administers medications and injections according to orders
- Maintains patient records
- performs various routine tests and procedures, including dipstick urinalysis, hematocrits, EKG s, tympanometry, audiometry, inhalation therapy, pregnancy tests, and blood glucose
- Maintains inventories of clinical supplies and medications
- Ensures that patient examination rooms are ready for use by patients, and that rooms are stocked with supplies and equipment
- Completes call backs to parents/guardians of patients by phone
- calls prescriptions to pharmacies
- Prepares lab, X-ray request and referral forms
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Additional Information
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the State of Alabama Required
- Licensure with the State of Alabama as a Licensed Practical Nurse Upon Hire Required
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
