Job Purpose
The Service Officer is responsible for helping provide a safe and secure environment.
Essential Duties
- Ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff members and guests of the University community
- Patrol the interior and exterior of academic and administrative buildings and on campus property to deter crime
- Maintain a knowledge of buildings, fire alarm panels, intrusion alarms and any locking procedures
- Respond to incidents to include accidents, illnesses, requests for assistance, walking safety escorts, medical escorts
- Provide security at special events, athletic events and health clinics
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Emergency Communications Center
- Be able to activate the Emergency Notification System
- Patrol parking lots and the parking garage and inspect vehicles for parking decals, and issue parking tickets and tow violators when appropriate
- Must be of good moral character; any candidate offered employment, must submit to a background investigation, to include: criminal record check for convictions of any disqualifying criminal offense, driving record, and drug screen for any illegal controlled substance
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- The ability to uphold human dignity and respect by recognizing each person's worth, valuing diverse perspectives, and treating others with kindness, fairness, and empathy
- Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University's Catholic and Jesuit mission
