Position Summary

Ensure that student behavior aligns with and supports the University’s mission by investigating and adjudicating community standards violations both on and off campus. Provide proactive education and outreach to the campus community on topics related to community standards. Be responsible for comprehensive case management, data analysis, and the development of educational initiatives aimed at promoting a respectful and safe community environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Investigate, adjudicate and maintain accurate records regarding alleged violations of community standards by students and student organizations that include but are not limited to allegations of sexual misconduct, hazing and bullying.

Assist in the facilitation and administration of the student conduct process and serve as a resource on community standard matters for students, faculty and staff.

Assist with the development of community standards, revisions of policies and procedures, and handbook revisions.

Ensure consistency and fairness for all student discipline.

Serve as an administrative hearing officer and prepare cases for hearing panels.

As needed, assist with the adjudication of Off-campus community standards violations.

Collaborate extensively with conduct administrators, Housing and Residential Life staff, Campus Police, faculty and staff regarding student conduct issues.

Collect and analyze data regarding student conduct and the conduct system. Develop presentations, statistical reports and summaries as needed.

Assist with the ongoing training to ensure that the department is in compliance with Clery regulations and Stop Campus Hazing Act reporting requirements.

Manage the data collection and reporting of Clery crimes for the Annual Safety Report in collaboration with URI PD.

Assist with the selection, training, and implementation of hearing boards which include faculty, staff and students.

Advise hearing panels.

Assist with the selection, training, and implementation of conduct advisors, which include faculty, staff and students.

Serve as a member of the student conduct team.

Participate in the creation and implementation of educational programs and training to prevent violations of community standards.

Assist in the development of student conduct/community standards and publication materials, website updates, and training manuals.

Other Duties And Responsibilities

Represent the Dean of Students Office on University, Division and other committees and at University events.

Work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Perform additional duties as necessary.

Licenses, Tools And Equipment

Personal computers and printers; word processing, database management and spreadsheet software.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s degree in college student personnel or higher education, or related field.
  • Minimum three years of professional experience in a college setting.
  • Demonstrated evidence of attention to detail and collaborative work style.
  • Demonstrated experience with evaluation, assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to support student education and/or student growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret institutional policies, plans, objectives, rules and regulations, and to communicate the interpretation to others.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present detailed studies and reports and to make recommendations concerning the substance of the studies and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize Maxient software, including analytics.

Preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with evaluation, assessment, mediation, conflict resolution and/or campus judicial systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX, Campus Save Act and Clery Act as they relate to sexual assault investigations on college campuses.
