Your work will ensure alignment with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and the University’s mission to educate future healthcare leaders.

As a faculty member, you will engage in excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. You will also support student recruitment, represent the School of Health Professions (SHP) on university-wide committees, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall student experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach a representative course load for a full-time, 12-month faculty appointment.
  • Recruit and advise nursing students; supervise students in practicum and internship settings.
  • Conduct program assessment and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Provide service to the program, the University, the profession, and the community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with area healthcare agencies, associations, and licensure boards.
  • Fulfill academic faculty obligations in teaching, service, and scholarship within the area of expertise, with a minimum teaching load of 60%, as negotiated with the Dean.

Leadership

  • Representation and Advocacy – Represent the program’s goals, strategies, and interests ethically and effectively within the university and externally.
  • Program Development and Improvement – Contribute to the ongoing development and revision of the program by integrating best practices, research, performance assessments, and training evaluations to ensure contemporary and relevant nursing education.
  • Program Evaluation – Participate in systematic program evaluation and assessment to support continuous quality improvement and maintain compliance with accreditation standards (NWCCU and CCNE).
  • Interprofessional Collaboration – Work with other departments and stakeholders to foster interprofessional education and practice opportunities.
  • Diversity and Inclusion – Promote a positive work environment that values diversity, effective communication, collaboration, and consensus-building.
  • Shared Governance – Engage with school and university governance committees on academic, curricular, student, and faculty matters.
  • Team Collaboration – Perform all duties in a manner that supports effective team collaboration and reflects the mission and values of the University and Providence.

Student Experience

  • Ensure a high-quality student experience from recruitment through graduation.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and success initiatives.
  • Address student concerns and grievances in a timely and effective manner.

Policy, Accreditation, Compliance, and Quality Assurance

  • Assist in preparing internal and external reports, including self-studies and site visit documentation for accreditation.
  • Stay current with trends and best practices in prelicensure nursing education.

Community Engagement

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with healthcare organizations to provide students with high-quality clinical experiences.
  • Represent the program at professional conferences and community events.

Applicants must possess a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution. A terminal degree (e.g., DNP, PhD) in nursing or a related field is strongly preferred and will be given priority consideration.
