Med-Ophthalmology
The University of Pittsburgh, Ophthalmology Department is searching for Data Scientist I applicant. The Data Scientist I will support research activities within the Choroid Analysis and Research (CAR) Lab as part of the Digital Twin of the Eye project. The incumbent will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning models for disease detection, quantification, and prediction using optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging data.
Qualification of candidate: Masters or Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Engineering with at least two years of working experience in AI-based Ophthalmology.
Essential Functions
Primary duties include designing and applying machine learning algorithms for biomarker identification and classification, as well as developing and implementing longitudinal OCT image registration techniques to enable predictive modeling. The incumbent will also perform data preprocessing, curation, management, and statistical analysis of large-scale imaging datasets.
The position requires collaboration with interdisciplinary research teams, adherence to established research protocols, and documentation of methods and results. Additional responsibilities may include contributing to technical reports, manuscripts, and grant-related activities.
Physical Effort
Must be able to sit at a computer and have strong concentration skills for long periods of time.
