Key Responsibilities
- Lead fundraising strategy and execution for all undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools reporting to the Provost
- Build organizational capacity to strengthen school‑based fundraising and alumni engagement
- Serve as the primary advancement liaison to Pitt’s four regional campuses
- Develop and implement strategies to secure major, complex, and blended gifts at the six‑ and seven‑figure level
- Partner with deans, regional campus presidents, and senior leaders to align fundraising priorities with institutional goals
- Work closely with Alumni Relations to enhance alumni engagement and long‑term philanthropic outcomes
- Cultivate, manage, and sustain relationships with key donors, alumni, and stakeholders
- Maintain an active portfolio of major gift prospects with a strong record of solicitation and closure
- Lead, mentor, and develop high‑performing teams across schools and centers, fostering accountability, collaboration, and excellence
- Support school‑based development directors in planning, goal‑setting, and execution
- Manage staff performance to ensure alignment with university‑wide advancement objectives
- Oversee creation and implementation of annual and multi‑year fundraising plans for assigned schools and campuses
- Balance multiple priorities while operating with significant autonomy and alignment to institutional strategy
- Ensure effective communication and coordination across advancement units, academic leadership, and regional campuses
- Represent PAE as the chief liaison to assigned schools and regional campuses
- Communicate with diverse audiences using compelling, persuasive messaging that advances philanthropic goals
- Translate the University’s mission and impact into narratives that inspire donor and alumni engagement
- Maintain a robust travel schedule to meet with donors, campus partners, and regional stakeholders
- Participate in evening and weekend activities supporting advancement and alumni engagement
- Provides leadership and staff oversight for school-based fundraising professionals
- Coordinates and facilitates development colleagues, deans, regional campus presidents, volunteers, and administration to identify and solicit support for strategic university and academic-unit campaign priorities
- Works to maximize support of key university campaign priorities
- In collaboration with the VC IGSC and Deans, develops and implements plans, monitors and reports progress towards goals, increases fundraising effectiveness, and strives to attain greater levels of philanthropy for the provost area schools within a collaborative team environment
- Works with direct reports and their respective teams on strategic planning efforts to establish school/unit and individual performance goals and associated metrics
- Maintains a personal portfolio of prospects within a high-performance, metrics-based team environment
- Trains, coaches, and mentors team members in best fundraising and operational practices
- Fosters a culture of collaboration and communication with academic leaders, among units and within PAE
- Participates in structured sessions with colleagues inclusive of Deans to coordinate prospect identification, engagement, strategy building, proposal development, solicitation, and follow up
- Partners with colleagues and direct reports to elevate gift strategies on all prospects and leads proactive collaborative efforts to develop effective and coordinated strategies for prospects shared by more than one school/unit
- Collaborates closely with school/unit directors and alumni relations colleagues to build out multidimensional strategic relationships with donors and prospects to drive overall support
- Stays current on best practices, current challenges, and opportunities, and assists in framing overall fundraising strategy
