  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite the Grand Forks, ND campus.

Purpose of Position

The Clery Act Compliance Coordinator plays a vital role in promoting campus safety and transparency at the University of North Dakota. This position collaborates across departments to ensure full institutional compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and related regulations.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President/Chief of Police, the Coordinator provides leadership and oversight of all Clery Act responsibilities including interpreting regulations, managing the daily crime log, preparing annual crime and fire safety statistics, and coordinating the University’s annual security and fire safety report. The role also ensures that all Campus Security Authorities receive required Clery Act training, supporting a campus-wide culture of awareness and compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Clery Act Compliance Compliance Management
    • Monitors and complies with Clery Act and other relevant regulations and laws.
    • Supervises Clery training to all Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) by assigning and reviewing work and by providing ongoing coaching, guidance, training and mentoring in matters regarding policy and procedure. Compliance Data Analysis:
    • Oversees analysis and classification of crimes according to Clery Act guidelines.
    • Oversees crime and fire log maintenance by ensuring protocols and staffing are in place to receive, review, and classify reports from law enforcement, other public safety agencies, and campus security authorities daily.
    • Manages development of audit trails and related records for each separate campus to document proper classification and counting of crimes and fires to be reported in annual statistics.
    • Stays current on evolving compliance requirements and assists with adapting policies and procedures accordingly.
    • Compliance Data Reporting & Disclosure:
      • Manages the collection and compilation of crime and fire statistics for inclusion in annual security and fire safety reports as required by the Clery Act, and ensures adequate protocols and quality control measures are in place to guarantee accurate data.
      • Coordinates with key campus offices, including Community Standards & Care Network, Student Conduct, University Housing, and Civil Rights &Title IX, to regularly review reports for countable Clery crimes and maintain proper record-keeping.
      • Advises colleagues across campus on complex Clery Act compliance issues.
      • Assists in the overall preparation of annual reports for the main campus and all separate campuses.
      • Submits annual crime and fire statistics online to the Department of Education. Stakeholder Engagement and Partner Liaison:
        • Maintains strong relationships with campus stakeholders, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant external organizations.
        • Serves as the primary point of contact for campus partners to request information about law enforcement records related to University Clery geography and affiliates.
        • Keeps senior department leadership informed of all significant investigations and concerns.
  • Information Management in support of University Police Department and university’s mission.
  • Track audit statistical information, utilizing UPD database, on the following campus law enforcement items.
  • Compile reports.

Required Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills, both written and verbal

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, forensic psychology, business administration, or related field.
  • Experience working with Jeanne Cleary Act regulations, information gathering, analysis, etc.
  • Proficient experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Experience in office setting, including a variety of activities related to records management, personnel issues, public relations, etc.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with law enforcement records keeping
  • Clery Act Compliance Training Academy training
  • Experience working as a Cleary Compliance Officer/Specialist
