Brief Summary of Work for this Position
UNC’s Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs is seeking a highly organized and professional Temporary Executive Assistant to support the Associate Vice Chancellor/Dean of Students. This role serves as the principal administrative liaison and “right hand” to the Dean, providing high-level personal and operational support in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Dean’s calendar, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel
  • Serve as receptionist, handling phone and walk-in inquiries with discretion and professionalism
  • Liaise between the Dean and internal/external stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, and community members
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and presentations; maintain confidential files and records
  • Assist with budget tracking, HR coordination, and general office operations
  • Support divisional projects and committees, including the Dean’s Advisory Council


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
  • A demonstrated possession of experience to perform the duties.
  • Requires knowledge of confidentiality regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and other administrative tools
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and exercise sound judgment under pressure


Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Experience in administrative support at a senior level
  • Experience working in Higher Education
  • Previous experience working with Banner, Ushop, and Emburse (previously Chrome River)
