Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Classes provide rigorous and evidence-based content, and give students the opportunity to explore theory, learn intervention skills and engage in challenging dialogue with colleagues.
Position Summary
The UNC School of Social Work is seeking Adjunct Assistant Professors to serve as Seasonal Admissions Readers in support of the admissions process for both the online and on-campus Master of Social Work (MSW) programs. Admissions Readers will review and evaluate application materials, participate in components of the admissions review process, and make informed recommendations to the UNC Graduate School regarding admissions decisions. Readers will also assist in identifying highly qualified applicants for School-based scholarship and funding opportunities.

This is a seasonal, temporary position that requires an average of approximately 5 hours per week during the admissions review cycle. Selected candidates will receive training prior to the review period and will complete structured evaluation forms for each assigned application. The primary goal of this role is to provide thorough, consistent, and equitable assessments that support the MSW Admissions Committee in selecting a talented and diverse student cohort across both program formats. This position is fully remote.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master's in Social Work with at least 2 years of experience.

-Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate qualitative and quantitative application materials.
-Excellent written communication skills and the ability to provide clear, well reasoned recommendations.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive applicant information appropriately.
-Strong attention to detail and consistency in applying evaluation criteria.
-Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines during peak review periods.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
3-5 years' experience in areas such as higher education academic and student affairs; teaching graduate-level courses; and admissions and recruitment outreach. Familiarity with UNC processes and systems (Graduate School, Slate/CRM, ConnectCarolina) and social work as a profession.
