Position Title: Administrative Law Instructor
Organization: UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies
Location: Remote (Synchronous Live Online Instruction)
Employment Type: Independent Contractor
Schedule: 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm (Tuesday or Thursday evening)
Commitment: 3 live online classes preparation time

UNC Charlotte Continuing Education is seeking a Paralegal Instructor specializing in Administrative Law to teach in our Paralegal Certificate Program. This instructor will design and deliver engaging, practice‑oriented online instruction to adult learners. Candidates with significant administrative law experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Administrative law matter versus a trial court matter
- Agencies versus municipalities
- Purpose and powers of the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH)
- Role of Administrative Law Judges (ALJ)
- Adopting and amending agency rules and regulations
- Differences between agency hearings and OAH hearings

- Teach assigned Administrative Law course(s) within the Paralegal Certificate Program using Canvas and Zoom
- Develop syllabus, lesson plans, PowerPoints, and supplemental materials
- Deliver live online classes using Zoom’s interactive features
- Foster a supportive, engaging learning environment
- Provide timely feedback and academic support
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure course quality and consistency
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) or relevant legal experience
- Knowledge of administrative law principles
- Familiarity with North Carolina administrative law and regulatory framework
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Passion for teaching and mentoring adult learners
- Experience teaching or training in North Carolina law
- Experience working with NC state agencies or regulatory compliance
- Teaching or training experience in higher education or professional development programs
- North Carolina Bar
- Currently sitting or formerly sitting judge
- Proficiency in Canvas (LMS)
- Ability to teach fully online
- Reliable computer and internet access
- Ability to create and upload syllabus, PowerPoints, assignments, and learning materials
- Proficiency with Zoom (screen sharing, breakout rooms, polls, etc.)
- Impact the next generation of paralegal professionals
