Job Description
The Center for Child Well-Being, housed within the Department of Psychiatry in the University of Missouri School of Medicine, seeks two Behavioral Resource and Referral Specialists to support our Psychiatry Access programs, including the Missouri Child Psychiatry Access Project (MO-CPAP) and the Maternal Health Access Project (MHAP).
The ideal candidate will be compassionate, service-oriented, and skilled at building relationships with patients, families, providers, and community partners. They will have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess individual needs and identify appropriate behavioral health resources.
This position requires the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining accurate documentation, timely follow-through, and a high level of service.
This position is a full-time, grant-funded, exempt, on-site position.

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Occasional nights and weekends
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work and relevant licensure (or eligible to be licensed within 12 months) within the State of Missouri.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or provisionally-licensed professional (LMSW, PLPC, LMFT-A) preferred.
Years of Experience: Experience in child and adolescent and/or perinatal behavioral health, particularly in primary care & behavioral health integration settings, is desirable.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000 annually
Grade: GGS - 010

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Responds to all MHAP/MO-CPAP calls and requests, screens and triages needs, completes intake, and coordinates appropriate referrals and provider scheduling.
- Performs all activities in compliance with HIPAA, health and safety regulations, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Conducts follow-up with patients and families and evaluates individualized referral options based on their needs, location, and available mental health, behavioral health, and substance use resources.
- Provides responsive, respectful, and service-oriented support, fostering engagement and satisfaction.
- Develops individualized resource lists and maintains a current, statewide database of mental and behavioral health resources, including continuously identifying, vetting, and updating available resources.
- Maintains accurate, timely, and HIPAA-compliant electronic case documentation, including referral, follow-up, and outcome information.
- Assists with development and maintenance of program resources, materials, policies, data, and processes as directed.
- Participates in team meetings and contributes to programmatic updates, process improvements, and implementation of program changes as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Please note that this position requires some after-hours and weekend shifts to provide full coverage for our resource access hotline. Hours may shift on a weekly basis.
