What are the responsibilities and job description for the RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR position at University of Maryland Medical System?
Under general supervision, responsible for the overall, daily operations of the residence. Based on a strengths model and using identified counseling and communication skills, engages members to develop and maintain a supportive, therapeutic, safe, home-like atmosphere which is sensitive to individual cultural and functional differences. Counselors are assigned to Community Rehabilitation, Residential or Mentally Ill/ Homeless Programs.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field is preferred. Bachelor’s degree may substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis.
- Four years professional experience performing mental health services, or equivalent, is required.
- Current, valid, MD state driver’s license is required. Not more than two points on the driving record per year permitted.

Pay Range: $17.68-$24.76
