Position Overview Under limited supervision, this role directs and manages the supply management and distribution process across UMMC components on a 24-hour basis. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, efficient supply operations while maintaining regulatory compliance and delivering exceptional service to internal customers. Please note this role requires access to medication storage areas and the transport of medications to and from designated delivery areas.

Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and directs supply distribution activities to ensure accurate and efficient operations in alignment with Materials Management and Logistics goals and objectives
- Collaborates with the Materials Management Director on financial and budgetary matters, including monitoring budget variances and supporting cost-saving initiatives
- Evaluates services and implements improvements in quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance; researches and recommends new products, techniques, and equipment to the Director
- Installs and monitors departmental performance measures including quality assurance, staffing productivity, and unmet needs assessments
- Develops a senior technician management structure to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks
- Creates and maintains unit par levels annually or as needed; identifies opportunities to reduce inventory and carrying costs in partnership with the Materials Director
- Coordinates activities with UMMS Corporate Contracting to maximize pricing and contractual benefits, maintain vendor relationships — including MWBE partners — and assist in vendor accreditation and monitoring
- Controls inventory levels in concert with Finance to maximize institutional return on investment, maintaining a fill rate of 98% or better by tracking demand patterns and monitoring store composition
- Creates, recommends, and routinely updates policies and procedures related to inventory control, supply maintenance, and distribution
- Ensures all managerial and administrative functions are performed thoroughly and on time, including work scheduling, performance reviews, and departmental reporting
- Establishes and monitors work performance standards; manages all personnel functions including hiring, training, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews while fostering a culture of teamwork and positive morale

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business related discipline is preferred.
- Five years’ experience in warehousing and inventory management systems, including two years of supervisory experience.
- CMRP or CPM certification strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project implementations under difficult or complex circumstances.
- Demonstrated experience and success in customer-service orientation relative to job-related performance.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting data and reports.
- Demonstrated understanding of automated systems, specifically materials management and related peripheral systems.
- Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, and visitors and all levels of staff..
- Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams as a group leader as well as a participant/contributor, and resolve problems using sound judgment.
- Strong supervisory skills to train, motivate and monitor staff working under tight deadlines.
- Willingness to work various schedules, as necessary, to coordinate efforts between and maximize the productivity of day, evening and night shifts.
