About the Job
The Strategic Finance & FP&A Manager’s primary role is to drive business performance by translating financial data into actionable insights that inform decisions across the organization. This role goes beyond reporting into active ownership of business insights, identifying issues, framing decisions, and influencing outcomes across the organization.
You will partner closely with the CFO and operational leaders to improve decision-making in areas such as pricing, operations, and strategic investments.
As CDS scales, the quality of our financial decision-making will be a key differentiator. This role will help shape how the company evaluates growth, manages cost structure, and allocates capital across markets, customers, and initiatives.
While the role supports the financial close and reporting process, its primary focus is forward-looking analysis, business performance, and decision support.
Essential Job Functions:
Business Performance & Insights
- Partner with sales and operational leadership to analyze performance across facilities, delivery networks, customer programs and strategic investments.
- Analyze performance against budget and forecast, identifying key drivers of variances and actionable opportunities.
- Translate financial data into clear insights that drive accountability and decision-making.
Strategic & Operational Support
- Support pricing analysis, contract evaluations, and customer profitability analysis.
- Build business cases and investment analyses (NPV, IRR, ROI, payback period) to support major decisions related to new market opportunities, vertical expansions, technology investments, capital allocation, acquisitions and operational initiatives.
- Develop scenario analyses to support strategic decisions and operational planning.
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles.
- Build and maintain financial models supporting revenue, operating expenses, and capital planning.
- Partner with operational leaders to understand business drivers and ensure financial plans reflect real operational drivers.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial performance packages for the board and executive leadership.
- Develop and maintain reporting metrics that improve visibility into business performance.
- Support the accounting team’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting, strong internal controls and GAAP compliance.
Process & Systems Improvement
- Enhance financial reporting infrastructure and planning processes with a focus on automation, standardization and AI-based solutions.
- Improve data integration between operational systems and financial reporting tools
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 7 years of experience in accounting, financial planning & analysis, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, or similar).
- Ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights for business leaders.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred
- CPA and public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- MBA or other advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
- Experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain industries.

Total Compensation is $115,000 – $130,000 annually, comprised of a base salary and variable bonus plan.
