What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pathology Administrative Manager position at University of Maryland Faculty Physicians?
Manages, coordinates, monitors, and provides oversight of faculty onboarding, ongoing faculty and leadership administrative support, and logistics and support for departmental projects. Takes the lead role in management of faculty recruitment, appointment, credentialing, and enrollment as well as designs, implements, and evaluates recruitment plans. Coordinates daily activities, staff functions, and budget issues for department. Sets goals and creates tactics to achieve program objectives. Hires and trains staff as needed. This person will exercise considerable discretion, perform complex decision making and critical thinking and the position requires working knowledge of institutional policies, practices and procedures. The manager will work directly with the Department Chair, Chief Administrative Officer, Director of Finance, and staff in other organizations.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Essential Functions
- Manages and tracks applications to faculty positions; answers candidate questions in a timely manner; manages the interview schedules; ensures all necessary arrangements are made for the interview process; prepares all necessary interview documents; prepares interview and selection forms with Selection Committee; coordinates completion and onboarding of new faculty, including appointment, credentialing, and insurance enrollment for selected recruits; monitors status of candidates; manages communication.
- Manages and tracks faculty appointment, promotion, and tenure process.
- Manages and tracks key results and data for Pathology related to clinical and administrative performance ; prepares regular reports on department data and results; works with faculty director(s) to administer the overall objectives of the organization; works with institutional and external parties as needed.
- Works with department leadership to develop and manage appropriate administrative activities that are consistent with the department's scope and overall mission; implements event planning, preparation and on-site administration.
- Assists with the budget and monitoring of department FTE and expenses.
- Manages and tracks all faculty recruitment and existing faculty appointments; assists with any faculty clinical scheduling needs as required; initiates and maintains any required offsite location and credentialing at hospitals; maintains records of offsite credentials and requirements per each hospital medical staff bylaws; submits necessary documentation on schedule for credentialing, payroll and benefits for all faculty/physicians; maintains faculty/physician files.
- Manages the daily activities of the department including monitoring relationships of outside agencies or subcontractors.
- Supervises, trains, schedules, and evaluates professional and clerical staff.
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience; or minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in academic medicine, with a focus on pathology education, faculty development, and program administration, regulatory and certification regulations. Knowledge of organization policies and procedures
- At least 2 years of supervisor experience, program planning and coordinator experience required
- Accurate typing and data entry skills
- Excellent organization and communication (oral and written) skills
- High level of proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite and software used by the department
