What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Softball Coach position at University of Maine?
Assists the Softball Program with coaching, recruiting, and training for athletic competition at the Division I level. Adheres to all governing procedures and regulations of the Athletic Department, University, Conference, and the NCAA.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assists in the evaluation, identification, recruitment, and retention of student-athletes for the Women’s Softball Program in accordance with University, Conference and NCAA guidelines and standards. Maintains accurate records of recruiting activities as required.
- Monitors academic progress, including advising, mentoring, and instructing as assigned.
- Assists with coordinating training and practice sessions. Ensures that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained.
- Assists with coordination of team travel and logistics.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships that reflect courtesy, civility, and mutual respect.
- Builds productive relationships with internal and external constituencies.
- Commits to organizational improvement by identifying opportunities to improve, recommending possible alternatives for a situation.
- Utilizes coaching and mentoring methods which provide an environment that is anticipatory, supportive and encourages constructive feedback on performance.
- Assumes responsibility for decision making in the absence of the Head Coach.
- Works with Athletic Marketing and Promotions to increase program visibility and game attendance. Other reasonably related duties as assigned by the head coach.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.
- Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel normally requiring a valid driver's license.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor & motivate student athletes.
Preferred:
Playing and/or coaching experience at the Division 1 level.
