The University of Southern Maine is seeking applicants for an Administrative Specialist in our Registrar’s Office.

The Administrative Specialist in the Registrar’s Office serves as the first point of contact for students, faculty, and staff by answering phone inquiries, assisting walk-ins, and managing the department email. The ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work independently and on a team while maintaining attention to detail is essential. A successful candidate will be well-organized and possess excellent written, phone and verbal communication skills. The Department utilizes various data systems and web platforms such as Google Drive, Microsoft, Filemaker, and Peoplesoft and requires someone with the ability to navigate such systems.

For this Administrative Specialist position the starting rate of pay will be $18.13/hour for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee with the University of Maine System. This position is full-time, working 8:00AM – 4:30PM, Monday – Friday and is located on our Portland Campus.

Required Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • One-year administrative support or comparable experience.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (ex. MS Office, web).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
