What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technology Coordinator position at University of Louisiana Monroe?
Responsible for technology support management for computer labs and computer based classrooms on campus. Works with academic departments and college facilities coordinators to accommodate their lab and classroom technology requirements. Maintains existing labs and assists in the planning of new computer-based student lab facilities.
- Manage technology deployment and coordination of open labs and computer equipped classrooms for on-campus student usage.
- Create, maintain and deploy software images for use on campus-wide and lab systems, both Mac and PC
- Coordinate with faculty/staff to ensure proper software for labs and campus at large
- Maintains contact with all academic departments to ensure that their lab and computer-based classroom needs are met.
- Creates new computer specifications for lab and classroom purchases based on current technologies.
- Coordinates all software installations and support with faculty members who have specific software requirements.
- Recommends procedures to enhance use of academic computing resources.
- Maintains accuracy of physical lab equipment via annual inventory
- Monitors and evaluates end user systems for performance using technical skills attained through training and experience.
- Responsible for planning and implementation of campus-wide lab and classroom management policies.
- May call for assistance from IT Specialists as needed.
- Must have Bachelor’s degree or real-world field experience in technical based background.
- Must have working TCP/IP knowledge.
- Experience in Microsoft products – Windows 10, Windows Server, MS Office; lab imaging software; Apple OS platform knowledge preferred.
- Experience with Active Directory and remote management software preferred.
