Part Time Shipping and Receiving Clerk

JOB SUMMARY:   

The Part Time Shipping and Receiving Clerk assists in the shipping and receiving of books and merchandise for KU Bookstore.  This role assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment, unloads and processes deliveries of merchandise from package services and LTD truck lines at the direction of the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor.  This positions assists other clerks with verifying and processing both incoming and outgoing shipments, maintains stock levels on the sales floor and in the store rooms of the main bookstore and makes deliveries to departments on campus and to all KU Bookstore locations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:  

1. Unload shipments of merchandise and books from parcel services and LTL truck lines, assist Receiving Clerks with verification and processing of incoming shipments, verify quantities, and apply tags as necessary.
2. Assist with delivery and stocking of merchandise on the sales floor and in the stock rooms of the main bookstore.
3. Safely drive company vehicles for deliveries and pick ups.
4. Use all electronic and mechanical shipping and receiving equipment including computers, hand trucks, pallet jacks  and vehicles in a professional and safe manner.
5. Dispatch materials from storage to various departments.
6. Answer inquiries from Bookstore staff pertaining to department functions and status of merchandise.
7. Assist with garment printing production.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT'S REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED:  

1. Ability to drive a one-ton truck, and to back into a loading dock using mirrors. 
2. Ability to lift parcels weighing 50 - 75 lbs.
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, staff, and the general public.
4. Ability to use, maintain and report deficiencies in office equipment involved in shipping and receiving: duplicators, POS label machines, electronic mailing equipment, and computer software and hardware components.
5. Ability to work accurately with receiving and accounting documents.
6. High School graduation. 
7. Valid drivers license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

1. Some college course work.
2. Prior shipping & receiving experience.
