Job Description Summary

The Statewide Becoming a Mom program (Baby Talk in Sedgwick County) provides free prenatal education to families across Kansas to reduce infant and maternal mortality and to improve birth outcomes. The Program Coordinator will provide support to Becoming a Mom sites across the state including coordinating distribution of curriculum and materials, providing technical assistance, coordinating webinars, assisting with evaluation, and other activities. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with other maternal child health programs and experts to ensure consistent and evidence-based content between programs. The goals of the position are to enhance the impact of the program across the state and ensure fidelity across sites.

Job Description

Job Duties:

Curriculum– 30%

  • Coordinate with Becoming a Mom sites and maternal/infant experts to update the curriculum annually including handouts, resources, lesson plans, activity plans and presentations.
  • Facilitate translation of all materials into Spanish, and potentially other languages as needed.
  • Ensure all materials meet accessibility requirements.
  • Arrange printing and distribution of materials to sites.
  • Coordinate curriculum enhancements, such as the development of additional sessions, strategies to increase participation in virtual classes, and enhanced post-program support.

Infrastructure Support – 30%

  • Update and maintain private Becoming a Mom website.
  • Provide technical assistance to sites regarding curriculum, data collection and evaluation processes, enhancement opportunities and other related topics.
  • Coordinate quarterly Becoming a Mom webinars.
  • Schedule and participate in annual site visits.
  • Assist programs to continue services during staff/instructor gaps.
  • Provide content and/or feedback on grants and reports.

Evaluation – 25%

  • Solicit feedback from sites regarding data needs.
  • Submit requests to data management company to update evaluation forms and tools.
  • Assist with monthly data audits.
  • Prepare annual data reports for the statewide Becoming a Mom program and individual site reports.
  • Create and distribute annual report, one-pagers and infographics regarding program outcomes.

Program Expansion – 15%

  • Engage in outreach to build a partner network to support Becoming a Mom programs.
  • Identify and attend key maternal/infant or public health conferences to promote the program and engage with potential partners.
  • Work with interested communities to develop a local Becoming a Mom program or build collaboration with an existing site.

Work Environment

  • This position is in-person with no remote work option.
  • Office is primarily located on the Wesley Medical Center campus in the Wesley Medical Arts Tower. If assigned to a partnering clinic, the position will include scheduled time at that location.
  • Reliable transportation to travel for site visits.

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Two (2) years experience with project coordination or project management. Education can substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Experience with databases, email, the internet, Zoom, Teams, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Public Policy or related field (e.g., health sciences, behavioral sciences, or other relevant disciplines).

Work Experience

  • Experience working with non-profit organizations, social welfare agency, community health care systems or universities.
  • Experience with data management, data analysis and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS).
  • Experience with utilization-focused and systems evaluation.
  • Experience as a key liaison between two or more departments in an organization or two or more organizations.
  • Experience working in one of the following areas: with community-based programs, heath care systems, health departments, or similar organizations.

Comprehensive Benefits Package

Coverage begins on day one for health, dental, and vision insurance and includes health expense accounts with generous employer contributions if the employee participates in a qualifying health plan. Compensation Statement

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
