Job Description
The School of Business at the University of Indianapolis seeks a versatile faculty member to support student learning, curricular integration, and applied business education across the undergraduate program. This position emphasizes strong grounding in business fundamentals, the ability to teach across the business core, and broad disciplinary competence, with a preference for strength in Accounting or Finance.
The successful candidate will contribute to business core instruction while supporting integrative and experiential learning initiatives within the School. The role prioritizes student-centered pedagogy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and practical application of business knowledge across functional areas.
Rank and track (tenure-track or Professor of Practice) will be determined based on qualifications.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
For Tenure-Track Appointment
- Terminal degree (PhD, DBA, or equivalent) in business or a related discipline (ABD near completion considered).
- Candidates with strength in Accounting, Finance, or complementary business fields, or whose work meaningfully connects to these areas, are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated potential for effective teaching and sustained scholarly productivity
For Professor of Practice Appointment
- Master’s degree (MBA, MAcc, or other relevant graduate degree) in business or a related discipline. Candidates with strength or professional experience in Accounting, Finance, or complementary business fields are encouraged to apply.
- Significant professional experience in accounting, finance, or related business practice
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, professional training, or student engagement
Preferred:
- Professional certification such as CPA, CFA, CMA, or related credential
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses aligned with School of Business needs and expertise, which may include:
- Financial Accounting and/or Managerial Accounting
- Corporate Finance or related finance courses
- Business core foundational courses
The candidate should demonstrate the ability to teach across the business core while contributing depth in accounting, finance, or complementary business areas.
Student Engagement and Contribution
A central component of this role is active engagement with students throughout their academic experience. Responsibilities include:
- Serving as a visible, accessible, and collaborative faculty presence within the School of Business
- Mentoring undergraduate students
- Supporting student professional development and career readiness

Contributing to experiential learning initiatives and applied projects
Expertise and Pedagogical Emphasis
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Broad understanding of core business functions and management principles
- Ability to teach across the business core curriculum
- Strength in accounting, finance, or complementary business fields
- Commitment to applied, experiential, and practice-oriented learning
- Skill in connecting disciplinary knowledge to real-world business contexts
- For tenure-track faculty, emphasis includes scholarly engagement and contribution to the discipline.
- For Professor of Practice faculty, emphasis includes professional engagement and industry relevance.
