The Measurement and Instrument Technician II is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and validation of instrumentation and measurement systems used in laboratory and high bay testing environments. This role ensures the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of data collected during system integration, validation, and performance testing activities.

The technician supports engineers and test teams by preparing instrumentation setups, maintaining measurement integrity, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Calibration & Maintenance: Calibrate and adjust pressure meters, flow meters, and control devices to meet standards.
  • Repair: Disassemble, repair, and replace components in faulty instruments.
  • Troubleshooting: Use logical reasoning to troubleshoot complex instruments and control systems.
  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of maintenance and calibration.
  • Safety: Adhere strictly to safety regulations, including OSHA standards
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories:
  • college course work in mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, instrumentation technology or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
  • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
  • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
  • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
  • work experience in the repair and maintenance of optical, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic instruments and/or computer equipment.
  • Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing entry level duties in the calibration, construction, repair, and maintenance of measurement instruments and accessories

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electronic testing equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to lift/carry 60 lbs and perform tasks requiring physical exertion.
  • Software: Proficiency in computers for logging data.
