Posting Number SP004500P Position Title Customer Service, Merchandiser & Off-Site Coordinator Division / College Auxiliary Services-MID Department University Bookstore Location Moscow Posting Context Statement The VandalStore Customer Service, Merchandiser & Off-Site Coordinator oversees bookstore customer service and merchandising operations, focusing on delivering elevated customer service and creating visually engaging and customer-friendly store layouts including the main store in Moscow and various satellite locations.
Position Overview This position oversees customer service and merchandising operations.
Duties may include :
- Create visually engaging and customer-friendly store layouts
- Manage product merchandise offerings and inventory flow to the various off-site locations
- Control costs
- Improve organizational structure
- Implement shared services and process / technology integration
- Implement and maintain safety processes across the multiple satellite locations and facilities
- Oversee inventory controls
- Create staff schedules
- Other duties as assigned

- One year of retail / customer service experience
- Experience managing, training, and supervising student employees
- Experience coordinating and implementing programs / projects
- Following oral and written instructions, policies and procedures
- Working in a multi-task environment
- Communicate effectively and professionally in both verbal and written format
- Using computers to communicate with email, enter, retrieve and edit data
Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Other
- Ability to work a nonstandard schedule which may include nights, weekends or holidays
- Must have valid driver’s license and ability to meet U of I driving requirements
- Requires occasional travel and overnight stay to satellite locations outside of Moscow
Additional Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong customer service orientation with commitment and drive sales through all channels
- Experience with cash handling and merchandising
- Demonstrated experience with organization, paying attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving
- Knowledge and experience working with POS / Inventory control systems
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to move about and between venues for extended periods of time up to a full day of work
- Bend, stoop, lift, carry and / or otherwise move items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds regularly
