The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) at University of Idaho is seeking a development professional to increase major gift opportunities for the college and UI Extension. Specific responsibilities include management of assigned prospects with cultivation activities, face-to-face visits, proposal development, identification and solicitation of major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and commodity groups. This position is a key member of the CALS fundraising team and works collaboratively to achieve fundraising goals for CALS and the University of Idaho Foundation.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for increasing major gift opportunities. Specific responsibilities include management of assigned prospects with cultivation activities, face-to-face visits, proposal development, identification and solicitation of major gifts of $25,000 or more from individuals, corporations and foundations. This position is a key member of the college/unit fundraising team and works collaboratively to achieve fundraising goals for the college/unit and the university.

Duties May Include
- Develop and implement annual fundraising plans and strategies to achieve revenue targets
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities through grant writing, sponsorship proposals and other fundraising initiatives
- Focus on securing gifts of $25,000 or higher
- Collaborate with program staff to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and impact goals
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in fundraising and philanthropy, applying relevant knowledge to enhance the organization’s fundraising strategy
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience
- Three years in fundraising or related work experience such as high-level sales, marketing or constituent based outreach
- Working in an environment dependent on developing and maintaining positive relationships
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Ability to travel
- Ability to work nonstandard business hours, including weekends and holidays
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
- Experience with volunteer boards and committees
- Experience or education in one of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences disciplines or related disciplines
- Familiarity with database computer systems and applications, preferably customer relationship management systems
- Public relations or marketing experience
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials
- Effective organizational and marketing skills
- Knowledge of development activities, preferably in higher education
