We are seeking a dedicated and resourceful Laboratory Coordinator to support the daily operations of our laboratories and help create an environment where students, faculty, and researchers can thrive.

In this important role, you'll serve as the operational backbone of the department's laboratory spaces-ensuring labs are safe, organized, fully equipped, and ready to support instruction, experimentation, and research. You'll work closely with faculty, students, and staff while providing leadership, technical expertise, and operational oversight.

What You'll Do

As the Laboratory Coordinator, you'll play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the laboratory experience. You will:

  • Coordinate laboratory preparations and oversee daily lab operations.
  • Provide technical and instructional support to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Partner with Environmental Health & Safety personnel to implement and maintain safety procedures in compliance with federal and state guidelines.
  • Supervise, train, and support student workers and part-time laboratory personnel.
  • Procure, maintain, and inventory laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Manage laboratory budgets and ensure resources are utilized effectively.
  • Research, develop, and support laboratory experiments as approved.
  • Assist faculty and research personnel in conserving resources and supporting research initiatives.
  • Provide specialized classroom instruction when needed.
  • Ensure laboratory facilities remain safe, organized, and operational.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a hands-on professional who combines technical knowledge with strong organizational and leadership skills. The ideal candidate brings:

  • Knowledge of safe laboratory operational practices and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, supplies, and equipment.
  • The ability to effectively supervise, train, and mentor student employees.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to collaborate with diverse groups of students, faculty, researchers, and staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience; or
  • Associate's degree in an Engineering discipline with ten (10) years of related experience.
