Duties and Responsibilities
(* Essential Duties)
- *Under general supervision, processes admissions applications, determines residency and special processing for select programs, etc. to ensure admission requirements have been met.
- *Provides personalized communication with students and parents to clarify or resolve admission application processing issues.
- *Addresses and resolves day-to-day questions on the admissions process, including residency inquiries and centralized admission application inquiries.
- *Consults with the UHCC Centralized Admissions Office to address and resolve complex or non-standard application processes.
- *Interprets individual student files by reviewing current and historic documents to properly advise and address student inquiries.
- *Processes residency conversions, determining if residency requirements have been met.
- *Updates student files in the student information system ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Develops methods and procedures of the services provided by the office and reviews them for effectiveness and efficiency.
- Assists with maintaining and updating the general safety and security procedures in providing customer service by identifying escalating situations and stepping in to address and diffuse each situation accordingly.
- Provides fiscal assistance with purchasing of goods related to the office.
- *Supervises student assistants - hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and performing payroll processes.
- *Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the University community; this includes faculty, staff, students. and the community-at-large. Participates in Student Services, campus, UHCC/UH system-level student success/enrollment initiatives as needed.
- Provides assistance with outreach and recruitment activities, on- and off-campus as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Counseling, Communication, Business or related field and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities in admissions and/or enrollment services; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of admissions and/or enrollment services and/or administrative services demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules. regulations and systems associated with admissions and/or enrollment services and/or administrative services.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur In the area of admissions and/or enrollment services.
- Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing and spreadsheet software.
- At least one year of experience in customer service.
- Possesses functional knowledge with the ability to provide basic training in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Ability to work outside normally scheduled work hours; this includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as directed.
- Ability to independently travel in a timely manner to off-site locations as needed.
Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with higher education systems and processes.
- Experience supporting students at a community college.
- Experience with outreach and/or recruitment.
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the University's Student Information System (Banner) and other technological platforms related to admissions (e.g., STAR Academic Logic, the Liaison application, the Kama?aina application).
- Considerable knowledge of Leeward Community College programs and admissions requirements.
- At least one year of supervisory experience.
