Position Summary
Assists the Gallery Director and assumes responsibility for the daily management and preparator role of the Joseloff and Silpe Galleries, in addition to the Kaman Print Study Center, to ensure successful exhibitions and programming. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.
Hiring Range: The budgeted salary for this position will be 37.5 hours at $20.00 to $21.00 per hour dependent upon experience
Job Duties:
Receives and sends artwork and relevant gallery materials.
Installs and de-installs artwork.
Prepares wall and spaces including patching and painting walls and pedestals.
Responsible for manager gallery materials stocked and organized.
Organizes the art collection and digital database
Handles on-campus loans from the collection.
Ensures correct and current didactic and label information is installed in a timely manner.
Facilitates and coordinates with campus partners and external contractors for maintaining and cleaning gallery spaces, gallery preparation, printing, and other services.
Hires, trains, schedules, and manages student gallery monitors.
Ensures Front Desk is always staffed; covers as required.
Responsible for reserving on-campus spaces for programming, including visiting artist lectures. Coordinates with on-site catering for reception needs.
Submits gallery event information to on-campus and off-campus digital spaces.
Schedules and hosts class visits and tours.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Special Skills:
The ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
Occasional attendance for events after business hours is required.
Previous gallery and preparator management experience is preferred.
